1. Vijaya Devadiga’s father was a Railway Employee who died because of heart attack in 1970. Since 1980, Vijaya Devadiga has been trying for job in Railway on compassionate ground. So far, he has submitted 4 applications to the concerned higher authority.

2. So far, he has submitted totally 35 applications to senior officers of Railway and Ministers. He has made more than 650 photocopies and sent to all concerned authorities.

3. Since 1980, Devadiga has submitted his applications to 6 Railway Minister, 4 prime Ministers and President with all the details.

4. After receiving applications from Devadiga, Mr. Ascar Fernandes has written 16 letters to Railway Minister and concerned officers recommending his case for a job. Mr. Janardhana Poojary has written 9 letters. Concerned M.Ps and MLAs also have recommended his candidature by writing 13 letters.

5. While Mrs. Appi has spent Rs.4000/- to get her due pension, Vijaya Devadiga has spent about Rs.45,000.

6. Appi, still, does not why she has got pension from 1970 to 1986.

7. As an attempt towards getting job, Vijaya Devadiga has visited Mumbai 22 times, 2 times Delhi and 3 times Bangalore.

8. In 1980, Vijaya Devadiga has depended on Railway Laboure’s Association. The Association has informed him that it is not possible to take old case.

9. Submitted an application to Railway Minister Madhav Rao Sindhiya in 1989. He assured. Later he wrote a regret letter.

10. Submitted an application to Railway Minister Jaffer Sharif in 1989. He assured. Later he wrote a regret letter.

11. In 1995, he submitted an application to the then Prime Minister P.V. Narasimha Rao through Rajya Sabha Member Janardhana Poojary. But no reply.

12. In 1996, submitted an application to the then Railway Minister Ram Vilas Paswan and also Prime Minister Deve Gowda. Government dissolved.

13. In 1997, submitted an application to the then Prime Minister I.K. Gujral but not received any reply

14. In 1998, submitted an application to the then President of India but not received any reply.

15. In 1998, he approached Consumer Forum. Forum has created public opinion through articles about the problem. Railway Officer Piyusha Bahadur and Railway Minister Rama Nayak have received 1000s of letters from public demanding them to give Vijaya Devadiga a Job.

16. In 1999, Railway Officer Piyusha Bahadur and Railway Minister Rama Nayak gave instruction to Central Railway to provide job to Vijaya Devadiga. On 26.05.1999, Vijaya Devadiga got the job.
